Bakerzin Bandung – makanan enak

Although avid travellers, we are also culinary nuts and that is where Bakerzin Bandung enters the scene in this review. We’ve recently become addicted to the Bakerzin Bandung located at Bandung Super Mall. There are others in Jakarta such as Grand Indonesia and they’d probably be similar to this one in Bandung.

In the beginning there was life without Bakerzin Bandung

It all started a few months back when we were strolling through the Bandung Super Mall late one night when we spotted macarons. And then cakes. Lots of them. We wanted to go inside and sit down to sample some of their delicious desserts, but the store was about the close so we opted to try out the strawberry shortcake instead (and a couple of sneaky macarons). We polished those treats off when we got home and knew at that point that culinary perfection had arrived in Bandung in the form of Bakerzin.

Life with Bakerzin

Since then, we have dined there on a number of occasions and have never once been disappointed by the food. We’ve tried the pizzas, the potato wedges, the sandwiches and the fantastic sodas. Oh and more desserts too. It has all been absolutely fantastic!

Our favourite item has been the strawberry coupe cheescake. Oh my god it is huge, massive, enormous, but so difficult to stop eating. We shared it between two which is pretty standard for us and I’m glad we did because they had to wheel us out of there in wheelbarrows as it was. Any more food and it could have been like the fat man scene in Monty Python’s “Meaning of Life”.

But then there’s more that we absolutely love. The panna cotta is to die for. The perfect amount of sweetness and the perfect consistency — many we have tried are too stiff.

The black forest coupe is also a dream as is the chocolate lava cake which has a fancy name… or maybe not very fancy… we can’t remember.

Savoury at Bakerzin

But when it comes to savoury dishes, we really expected Bakerzin to be disappointing as it is a dessert specialist. But we have found the savoury food to be equally as good as the sweet food at Bakerzin. In particular, we loved the bratwurst pizza because of its great base, fantastic cheesiness and good quality meat. The other savoury dish we loved was the potato wedges. Now wedges are old school, usually boring, bland and just not worth ordering. But we tried them at Bakerzin Bandung anyway and we were pleasantly surprised. In fact, we thought they were abso-freaking-lutely fantastic! So so so so crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Of course Susan tried to fish all the smaller ones out from the bottom which are the most delicious, but I held my ground. I scratched and kicked until I got at least one of those crunchy, crispy, delicious morsels.

Anyway, getting back to the point. Bakerzin Bandung rocks! It’s a funny place — part dessert store, part restaurant. We love it though. For many people the prices here will be too high, but if you’re looking to go somewhere that justifies the price, Bakerzin Bandung is definitely a top choice.
