The West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand is a rugged place where sheer cliffs, howling winds and a hardy population battle each other on a daily basis. It’s also home to colonies of seals which can be viewed for free and we came across a lone one on a beach. We originally thought it was dead, but after getting quite close to it, it let out this nasty roar and started moving. In the meantime, we did a runner.
